Opera singer and mezzo soprano, Anna Upston originally took up crochet as a way to relax while practicing. The crochet habit quickly grew into an almost obsessive love for quirky and exotic yarn.
Within a few years, Anna realized that what she really loved was not crochet, but the yarn itself. She began to create her own yarn, using her favorite luxury fibers, and experimenting with a myriad of techniques, textures and colors.
In 2006, Anna began Maupston Design Studio as a gallery for yarn. This is a place to commission, create and appreciate an almost sculptural art intrinsic to the skein of yarn itself. She lives in New York with her husband and two beautiful daughters. |
